Where Do the Locals Go … for Mall Shopping?

The Mall at Millenia
Wouldn’t you love to know all the local’s tips when visiting a new city?  Well, I’m here to help you!

I will tell you “Where the Locals Go” around Orlando Florida, so you can pick the best places to visit off property when you’re on your Disney World vacation.

Have you ever wondered which malls were around Disneyworld?

There are two of them, and they are both pretty neat!

The mall in the photo above is the Mall of Millenia, and the locals really like it.  It’s located at 4200 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL 32839 (put it into your GPS), and it’s open Monday though Saturday from 10am until 9pm, and Sunday from 11am until 7pm.

It’s very conveniently located right off of I-4 and it’s not too far from Disney and Universal Orlando.

I would say out of the two malls, this one would be the simplest to find.  It’s more of an upscale mall, offering such stores as Macy’s and Bloomingdales.

I really enjoy the sunny and open contemporary architecture, and it’s always a nice visit.  There’s over 150 stores, including two Starbucks!

We like to ship at Burberry and Yankee Candle when we visit, and we almost always take a treat from Godiva with us!

If you’re looking for a more laid back mall, with more family oriented stores, you will want to visit the Florida Mall.

Are you asking what that giant M+M in the photo above is?  It’s the M+M store!!  Make sure to visit it to find neat m+m souvenirs, and TONS of m+m candies in lots of fun colors.

The Florida Mall is not too far from the International Drive area, and the airport, and with your GPS it’s very easy to find.

It’s located at 8001 S Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32809.  They are open Monday through Saturday from 10-9pm and on Sunday they are open from 11-7.

I really wish they had extended hours, like the outlet malls have.  I love being able to mall shop until 11 at night.

Some of our favorite stores in the Florida Mall near Disney is Build a Bear Workshop, Gamestop (there’s two of them!), and Teavana.  We also love to dine in the neat sushi restaurant located in the center of the mall near the food court.  It’s truly a unique experience, and a lot of fun for the family.  (You’ll know why when you see it).

There’s a big candy store, a Disney Store, and a two story Starbucks.  There’s over 250 stores!!

If you have a free day planned from your Disney family vacation and you want to visit the mall, depending on what you’re looking for schedule a visit in to the Florida Mall or the Mall at Millenia.

My younger kids love the Florida Mall the most, while my almost 18 year old prefers the luxury of the Millenia Mall.

Have fun!
